Lgcy Power Casino Night | Recap
February 5th, 2023 | By DJ Cam Reeve
One of the biggest compliments a company can receive is repeat business. This is especially true in the corporate DJ world. One of the things I personally find interesting about working with repeat clients are the stories they have to tell about other events they have attended where the entertainment didn’t quite live up to expectations.
Lgcy Power has been a client of mine since 2019 when they hired me to provide lighting and DJ services for an afterparty at the Timber Moose Lodge in Heber, UT. I’ll never forget this event – a casino night, to be precise. Because of the Utah weather, most of the other vendors did not make it up to the lodge. There we were, the only vendor of four to make it up to the lodge. We were everything for that event.
Myself and a fellow colleague, DJ Russ, DJ’d the event near the pool late into the night. It was a blast - the SEO, the leadership team, and the top sales reps played basketball in the pool as we played music from their requests.
Now fast forward to 2022. Lgcy changed their location from the Timber Moose Lodge to the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, home of the Utah Jazz. Vivint Arena DJ gig? I couldn’t be more excited. What used to be 60 attendees became 300+ attendees in 2022 and 500+ now. I won’t lie, it’s been fun to watch the growth of this company.
This year I was asked to DJ at the casino-themed lounge on the main floor of the Vivint Arena near the red carpet, photo booth, and refreshment area. The night was called ‘Lgnds All-In’ and started with a 1-hour red carpet event with guests being greeted with a photographer, videographer, and interviewer asking fun questions about the year in review. After the first hour, they were all invited to go to the main bowl area, where the awards ceremony for all the teams took place.
After the awards ceremony the casino night began. This is where I got to have some fun, playing everything from alternative rock to the latest trending Tik Tok songs. One of my favorite parts about working with Lgcy Powers team is the fact they trust me completely to select the music and create a vibe. Each year I’ve been a part of the event I have made it unique. Because I have a log showing the music history from events I’ve done for them, I take the time to find fresh tracks or new re-drums to make each event fresh.
What were the songs that caught the most attention during casino night and raffle? ‘Bel Mercy by Jengi and ‘Just a Friend’ by Biz Markie. You may ask “Just a Friend,” Cam? Really? Well, with a little quick mixing, I played only the chorus and I can’t tell you how fun it was to hear the crowd of 300+ yell the lyrics at the top of their lungs. “Oh baby you! You got what I need!” as we watched the event staff draw out the last ticket for the grand prize. My night as a Vivint Arena DJ couldn’t have ended in a better way.
The Vivint Arena in-house audio-visual company provided the sound system for me this year, along with a microphone. As a Vivint Area DJ, I provided a DJ Booth, a controller, and a laptop for the event.
