All Star Weekend | Louis Vuitton Recap
This year, Salt Lake City had the honor of hosting the NBA All-Star Game.
The NBA All-Star Game is an annual exhibition basketball game played by the very best athletes of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The game features a selection of players from both the Eastern Conference and Western Conference, who are chosen by a combination of fan, media, and player voting.
If you're from Utah or follow the NBA, you know how big of a deal this is. The publicity and entertainment it attracts is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If you’re in show business, you also know what that means for the entertainment and event industry here in Utah. It opens up a world of opportunity and plenty of new connections. Stores and promoters alike are on the lookout for any excuse to bring people to their events and into their stores. I was fortunate to get multiple calls for events during this time, with my company being a part of six events throughout all star week. They were all too awesome to pick a favorite but one message I received was enough to bring a big smile to my face.
On Tuesday, I received an Instagram message from McCall Gray who is a catering & event designer and Cuisine Unlimited. She was looking for a DJ for both Friday and Saturday night. While a lot of my gear was booked for All Star Weekend, I was not personally schedule to DJ on Friday and Saturday. After our phone call and a few messages, we were locked in and ready to go. To my surprise, the event was taking place at the Louis Vuitton store in City Creek Center.
As many of you many know, Louis Vuitton is a french luxury fashion and lifestyle brand that was founded in 1854 by Louis Vuitton. The company is known for its high-end leather goods, including handbags, luggage, shoes, and accessories, as well as its clothing lines for men and women. Louis Vuitton is considered to be one of the most valuable luxury brands in the world, with a reputation for quality and exclusivity.
Because I had a few other audio-visual events happening on Friday, I scheduled a drop-off early in the morning to get everything set up for me to DJ. Afterward, I left and took care of other equipment drop-offs for various All Star events before returning to DJ at 1:00 p.m. The vibe was incredible, with a fusion of open-format, upscale Tech House music, and hip-hop tracks.
For this event, McCall Gray’s team created two signature specialty mocktails that were custom and colored to match the hometown Jazz’s colors. These complemented the NBA All Star weekend vibe perfectly. Talk about fun and unique! So many people came in from out of town - I spoke with people from LA, Florida, NY, and Colorado who came in and spent 20-30 minutes in the store. Some even stayed as long as two hours before walking out with a few designer Items.
Take a Listen to Saturday's set that consisted on mainly tech house music.
On both days I DJ’d from 1-5 p.m. It was surreal, and both Manny and the team at the Louis Vuitton in City Creek Center were incredible to work with. Over all, this was a fun experience, and I look forward to working with McCall and her team again here in the near future.
