Country Fan Fest Utah DJ Gig 2021 | Event Recap
By DJ Cam Reeve
I didn’t have a blog at the time so I thought I would recap a few events I’ve done in the past. This one being from 2021.
Country Fan Fest 2021 was a weekend to remember! The annual music festival, held in Tooele, Utah, brings together country music lovers from all over the world for a weekend of live performances, fun activities, and great food. It’s actually one of the largest outdoor music festival in Utah. It takes place each July and draws in more than 30,000 attendees. I was excited to get the call from a colleague named Russ from Powell Weddings and Events, who was hired to provide silent disco for the event and was looking for a few DJs to be a part of the party. I was hired for 2 of the 3 nights at Country Fan Fest.
For those that don't know, country is my roots. I grew up on country music and Laura and I met country dancing. You can learn a little of my background from my interview with Tonya from Hoopes events.
In addition to a dj for silent disco, Russ was also looking for a little lighting to go along with the headphones and DJ services. Being one of the more well-known providers of lighting services to DJs and events in northern Utah, Russ knew that I could provide what he needed. To that end, I provided 4 moving head lights and 8 pixel tubes. This small-footprint-but-big-output lighting system is one of our go-tos and can create an impactful light show at almost any event. Combined with our ipad-controlled lighting software, it adds energy to a DJ set in all the right moments.
For two nights multiple DJ took over the campground with an epic silent disco party! The festival-goers were provided with headphones to listen to our DJ sets, and the music was broadcasted directly into their headsets. My lighting, combined with three DJs each simultaneously playing unique sets, created a fun atmosphere for dancing and letting loose. The silent disco party included music for everyone, from classic country hits to EDM and modern dance tunes. The vibes were immaculate and attendees both young and old joined in the fun.
Never been to a silent disco party? Here are the basics: A silent disco party is a unique and immersive experience where attendees are given wireless headphones to listen to music instead of the traditional speakers you would see at most events. The music is broadcast directly into the headphones, which have multiple channels. This allows attendees to dance to their own beat and switch between different DJs of their choosing at will. Ready to party to some country music for a bit? Switch over to channel one. Feeling like switching it up with some EDM? Just slide your switch over to channel B.
While this is in and of itself a great time, silent discos are also popular for their ability to create an epic party without disturbing others. If your venue has noise restrictions, they are a great addition to a typical DJ setup so that guests can party late into the night. Here at Country Fan Fest, it was a great way to have music playing later into the evening because the stage was located immediately adjacent to the campgrounds.
The DJ roster for the week was stacked and included a lineup of amazing and varied talent from across the state of Utah. DJs for the week included DJ Cam Reeve, Russ Powell, Ryker Reeve, Morgan Powell, Josh Cazier and Austin Birch. DJs aren’t the only ones who help make a silent disco successful, however. We need to give a shoutout to those who helped out with headphone check-in assistance, Sam Brauer and Russell long.
Overall, the silent disco party at Country Fan Fest 2021 was a huge success. The combination of great music, catchy lighting, and multiple DJ's made for an unforgettable experience. As always, I'm grateful to have been a part of such an amazing event and to have been able to contribute to the festival's success.
