If you're traveling to the Sundance Film Festival and are looking to fill the gaps in your schedule with experiences unique to Park City then you're in the right place. There are countless activities to enjoy while you experience the excitement of the festival, from winter sports to arts and culture. Here's a list of some of our favorite things to do in Park City during Sundance.
1) Visit the Utah Olympic Park
Unless you come from a city that's hosted the games in the past, it's not often that you get to play on the same mountains that world-class athletes have traversed. The Utah Olympic Park offers tours, bobsled rides, and a host of other activities from the informative to the exhilarating. If you'd prefer to relax and watch the action, you may be able to catch some future Olympians training year-round, even during the Sundance Film Festival.
2) Take a Dip in a Crater
Yes, you read that right. Located just 30 minutes from Park City, the Homestead Crater is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Escape from the Sundance Film Festival for a few hours to swim or paddleboard in the warm spring water while you marvel at this impressive natural formation. You're sure to leave with some Insta-worthy photos and memories you won't forget.
3) Enjoy Some Art
Park City is home to a plethora of amazing galleries and museums. Whether you visit the Kimball Art Center, Park City Fine Art Gallery, Gallery MAR, or any one of the other fantastic art galleries you're bound to find art that speaks to you. If you feel like making some of your own art during the Sundance Film Festival, sign up for a paint-and-sip event with The Paint Mixer. If you really want to impress your friends, hire them to come to you for your own private event!
4) Dine on Incredible Food at the St. Regis
As one of the most luxurious hotels in Park City, the St. Regis offers incredible dining as well as comfortable accommodations. Make your Sundance Film Festival trip more memorable by adding a dining reservation to the itinerary. RIME, led by Chef Matthew Harris, serves up traditional American steaks and seafood in a rustic but elegant atmosphere. If you prefer French cuisine, Brasserie 7452 is a classy lounge open to guests of any age. For dining with a view, the Mountain Terrace has light bites and drinks among the beautiful mountain vistas.
One of the Hidden Gems at St. Regis is 'The Vintage Room.' This is a Ski Lounge with a Live DJ on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2-6 and if the party is going super well it could end as late as 7:30pm. Grab a cocktail and jump on the dance floor as a live DJ spins the hottest tracks. The Vibe is truly something you don't want to miss.
5) Hire Your Own DJ and Throw a Party
Park City is home to some of the best DJs in Utah. If you want to plan a truly unforgettable night, book an Airbnb, hire a DJ, and throw a party of your own. You'll be able to choose the music you and your friends love and party as late as you want. Instead of fighting the crowds downtown, you can party with your closest friends in the comfort of your own space.
Whether you want to keep things low-key or invite all of your new Sundance friends, you can throw a party with your own theme, decor, and more. No need to worry about last call or clubs closing down; throw your own Sundance Film Festival party and you can go all night.
