I love working with other DJs from out of state. One of the incredible aspects of this industry is that many individuals who are often seen as competitors by most are viewed as significant assets and friends by me. The entertainment industry is vast, with ample room for everyone, and each DJ brings their unique style to the table. It’s crucial to find your niche and market your strengths effectively to attract the clients you wish to work with and who will benefit most from your services.
One DJ I frequently encounter is @RyanScooter. I first met DJ Scooter in Utah, where he was hired for a wedding at which I was subcontracted to assist with the audio-visual (AV) aspects. He required three different setups: one for the ceremony, another for the reception, and a third for the after-party. At that time, I had minimal experience working with wedding DJs who mixed in the style that DJ Scooter employs.
Around the same period, I was in the process of transitioning my brand from an AV company to 'DJ Cam Reeve', with a strong focus on mastering the art of mixing and phrasing. Ryan was a significant inspiration for me during this phase, motivating me to enhance my DJ skills. Assisting him provided me with a front-row seat to his seamless mixing style, allowing me to sing along to songs without even realizing he was transitioning between tracks every minute. This experience profoundly influenced my approach to engaging with the dance floor and reshaped my perspective on DJing.
Individuals like Ryan inspire me to continually improve and refine my craft. Since our initial collaboration, my company, Reeverb Entertainment, has worked with him approximately a dozen times, providing sound, lighting, and DJ controllers/booths for the weddings and events he is hired at in Utah. In 2023 alone, Reeverb Entertainment supported him at five wedding events.
